Letter from the President
On September 24, 2003 at
roughly 4:30am I signed a check for $5000 and sent it off to our lobbyist in
Tallahassee on behalf of the members of FALR. The money is to be used to
benefit the recovery industry.
Having read the legislative blue-print put forth by Joe Taylor
and FLACARS I am impressed at what I see as high goals for this year’s
session. I won’t make any predictions, but I will be impressed if we
succeed.
The short term mission of the Officers of FALR are to consider
possible modifications to the goals of the association, provide title and
task to any members that wish to serve, and seek out new membership.
Included in this newsletter you will find the goals of FALR put
forth by the current officers. We are willing to entertain any reasonable
adjustments to these goals. Please provide your feedback.
As a member… or a potential member you can help with our
mission. Please pass the word that FALR is alive and well and encourage
every recovery agent you know to participate. Money is always important but
increasing membership is a key to a prosperous future.
I want to encourage all of you to review and plan to participate
in all the upcoming events. There are three
separate dates we will be gathering in 2004. Our main focus will be on
replenishing the lobby funds, generating new membership and spending some
time together.
In 2001 we went on a cruise to the Bahamas with several recovery
agents. If you would be interested in participating in this type of event in
the future, please let us know.
The next big convention is to be held in February of 2005.
Moving the convention to the early spring instead of summer was not an easy
choice to make. The Florida Convention attracts participants from all over
the country. Many of these folks have made it clear that Florida in February
would be far more appealing than July. Please help us build momentum and
make this the grandest convention ever.
Membership dues/contributions will not be expected from current
members until the Repo Expo in February of 2005. We will be accepting new
membership between now and then @ $50 per person. New members must agree to
the budget approved at the last members meeting. That budget plan was 60%
legislative, 20% growth, & 20% left to the officer’s discretion. To date the
officers have not spent a single dime of the discretionary funds.
Brian Donnellan
