Letter from
the FLACARS President
I am really upbeat about today’s FLACARS. The result of this
year’s legislative session is simply beyond belief. Membership is on the
rise and with your help FLACARS will be the association our industry depends
on for many years to come.
I would like to stress the importance of getting involved in
our upcoming events. We all have our own ideas about the repossession
industry and what FLACARS needs to be focused on. Show up and influence the
consciousness of our alliance. I want to thank Dave Craze and Recovery
Solutions Sales & Service for their commitment to give away a ‘Solution’
self loading wheel-lift at the ’05 FLACARS Convention. The bed will be given
away to a FLACARS member.
One short term goal of the FLACARS is to get agents from
every area of the State to select representatives to FLACARS. Having
directors appointed by the president can lead to the perception that the few
control the mindset of the many. We want you to select your own
representative(s). Look for area meetings… or call us to help organize one.
I want to encourage each of you to get to know and
understand FLACARS. Visit the website, read the by-laws. Most importantly
call other agents and encourage them to participate. FLACARS is working for
recovery agents on the legislative front. Continuing education and vendor
relationships are also important FLACARS provisions.
Without getting in to a lot of detail I would like to wish
Joe Taylor well as he sets off on a new chapter of his life. Although his
service to the industry is not over, the need for him to personally (along
with Elizabeth of course) manage all the business of this alliance of
Florida Recovery Agent/Agencies in order to fund legislative oversight has
ended. The cavalry has arrived. We are confident the funds will be there
year after year to protect our industry.
I am honored to be at the forefront of this new generation of
life in the Florida Repossession Industry. It was a proud moment for me to
watch as Joe Taylor announced to the PIRSAC Board that the Recovery Industry
had fully funded a $25K Scholarship Fund in honor of John Russi. The
Recovery Industry is the baby and step-child of the 493 Licensees. There are
around 1K of us. PIs out number us nearly 10 to 1. Security almost 100 to
1. This is a significant statement about the Recovery Industries gratitude
to John Russi’s service. I want to thank all of you that worked to generate
the funds that were used to fund the John Russi / Recovery Industry
Scholarship. You know who you are. The political impact of this Scholarship
will benefit our industry throughout all of our lifetimes and on into future
generations.
We have had discussions with the President of FALI (Florida
Association of Licensed Investigators) about working with the investigation
industry to raise lobby funds. This makes good business sense because both
industries are currently paying the same lobbyist.
If you are not a member of FLACARS join today. If you are a
member, call other agents and urge them to join. The changes taking place
in this industry are a direct result of what unity can do.
FLACARS President
